What do I need to consider in choosing a new floor?
Before choosing a new flooring for your space, answering certain questions first would be useful
- What room is the flooring being considered for?
Certain environments are better suited to particular floorings than others. The biggest factors to consider are temperature and moisture, so it’s worthwhile to make sure the floor you choose would take well to the room.
- What is the size of your room?
We can’t deny that the cost of your new flooring-to-be is important, and neither should you. It is impossible to know the potential cost of a flooring without first finding out how much of it is required for a complete job. So take the time to measure your floor before trying to decide on a particular flooring. If you need help with measuring, we can help. Call us 44 (0) 1273 257 010
- Do you have underfloor heating?
It is important to know that if you have solid wood heating, going for solid wood floors wouldn’t be the best choice. Solid wood floors warp if they get too hot. Underfloor heating are becoming more popular in Brighton properties and it is a determining factor in the type of flooring you choose.
- How prone to floor scratches are you?
If you tend to scratch up your floor a lot from dropping things on it, or from the sharp nails or claws of pets, or moving furniture, it is important to have a floor that would cope well with scratches. Due to their hard outer layers, vinyl and laminate flooring are highly resistant to scratches. Engineered wood and solid wood flooring are slightly easier to scratch. But if you are insistent on getting such floors, they can be sanded down and refinished when they get scratched.
- How long do you want your floors to last?
All flooring services by GJP Flooring are made to outlast generations. But because some floors will last longer than others, the choice of flooring depends on you. If you would love a makeover every now and then, you might go for a different floor each time and longevity of your floors wouldn’t be the main focus of your choice of flooring.
