What does it mean to “float a floor”?
Floating a floor is an installation procedure involving the gluing together of the tongue and grooves of the boards. All engineered flooring can be floated. A floated floor holds itself in place using its own weight and it is not directly glued to the floor. Floating a floor is ideal for installations where the sub floor is uneven, or unacceptable for one reason or the other.
